Special Teams Shoot Tackle Drill

Purpose

The purpose of the Special Teams Shoot Tackle Drill is to teach and practice making a save open field tackle on punt or kickoff coverage.

Description

Tackler and Return man stand 2 yards apart.

Return man will move and tackler will form up.

Tackler will grab and drive legs and finish the tackle.

Each player will go one at a time and continue until coach blow the whistle.

Great form tackle drill!

  • Stress importance of correct tackling position.

  • Footballs
