Special Teams Punt Block Hand Placement Drill

Purpose

The purpose of this Special Teams Punt Block Hand Placement Drill is to teach and practice correct hand placement when trying to block a punt.

Description

Defender stands a 1-yard from the coach and motions his hands like he is running.

The coach will then hold the ball and pretend to punt football.

Defender will place hands on the block point and block the football.

Coaching Points

  • Since this drill is already reduced to the minimum, just focus on correct placement of the hands

Equipment

  • 4 Footballs for each line
