The Football Offseason Running Program that gives Your
Players Optimal Speed and Endurance for the Whole
Season
How often you see team dominate all of a sudden in the fourth Quarter, and
you see and hear people around asking "Why didn't they play like that before".
Well the obvious answer is:
They did!
But until the fourth quarter the opponent
could physically keep up, but now in the fourth quarter it's the team with the
better conditioning who's plays almost miracously seem to work every time:
- running backs gaining that extra yard
- Receivers breaking open from the cornerback who covered them perfectly the first 3 quarters
- Offensive linemen finally get their opponents moved
- Defensive linemen beating the block just that split second earlier to get to the QB in time to make the sack.
- Linebackers now closing in on the Runningback on a sweep before he can make his move upfield
- and Defensive Backs now being that half step quicker to the ball to make that crucial interception...
The foundation to all this is laid months earlier in the offseason by a perfectly
fitted Conditioning Program.
The challenges to create a very good conditioning program for Football are
manyfold:
First of all, football is not track and field!
You don't practice for one long run or a few sprints over a given distance.
No!
The players are required to perform explosive power, quickness and sprints over various
distances 60-70 times within about 3 hours every week.
Which also means they have to practice like a sprinter but
at the same time build up endurance as a long distance runner...
Something that barely goes together from a physical
point of view:
for sprints you need to build up different muscle fibers (fast
twitch fibres) than for the long distance running (slow twich fibres).
The Football Offseason Conditioning Program addresses both components in an
ideal way:
Building a good endurance base with a few longer runs (which get
shorter and more often the closer the season gets) and building explosiveness
combined with the ability to perform this frequently with "rapid fire" sprints
of which most are a lot shorter than sprints in any other sport, but are a close
as possible to the distances the player really has to run in a game...
We all know the problem: The athletes get one
general workout-plan in which they have to look up their
individual program on what to do when and so on...
And, what is the result? - The majority won't get it right
(at least not in the way their coach intended) and so they
don't practice in the most efficient way...
Another problem we all know is that athletes
tend to cheat on themselves unconciously when working
out...
by giving them something to fill out to keep track on how
they are doing, you'd solve two problems in one: They stop
cheating unconciously (and most athletes don't want to cheat
deliberately) and they even get extra motivated, since now
their progression is documented over time in an objective
way...
and athletes want to get better, so they'll work extra hard
to show prove of the progression they're making...
Now, imagine you had the Perfect Offseaon Conditioning
Program...
A Program that gives your players detailed
instructions - individually for 10 different positions - on
when to run what distance, the required
max time he should run that distance, and also
instructions on how long exactly he has to rest to get
optimal results.
All that together with Excel Sheets (again per
position) to keep track not only of the times your athletes
ran each distance or workout unit, but also documenting on
how he's doing conditioning wise by keeping track on his heart beat
rates immediately after the load (running) and at
a given time into the rest.
Teams, that have seriously run this program
have never let down in the
forth quarter, thus winning most of their close
games...
Whoever had a look at this program so far was
excited - and they didn't even see the Excel-Sheets, which
I've just created for this complete Offseason Conditioning
Program.
