The purpose of this Punting Drop Consitency Drill is to work on the mechanics of a consistent drop which is essential in executing a good punt.
The Punter should align himself on one of the yard lines working across the football field.
He should take his normal stride into the ball and drop the ball on the line without kicking it.
The proper drop should have the nose of the football slightly in and down.
This will cause the ball to bounce back and slightly outside of the line the punter is working on, indicating a good drop.
Good drop goes over speed, but the punter should get to the point he’s doing it with good consitency in his normal (required) punting mechanics speed.
