Defensive Back Backpedal Turn and Go Drill

Purpose

The purpose of this Defensive Back Backpedal Turn and Go Drill is to teach and improve the footwork when turning out of backpedaling.

Description and Coaching Points

  1. Back pedal
  2. Turn in direction coach gives
  3. Keep shoulders over knees
  4. Don’t “open” up
  5. Exaggerate forward lean
  6. Run in a straight line
  7. Cross over with far leg
  8. Stay off your heels
  9. Break on ball, intercept
