Week 14 brought us very different QB performances, mostly the top performers played better than the low performers, thus opening the gap between them even farther, but with Tony Romo, the #2 ranked Quarterback after Week 13, we had a league low performance (4 Turnovers, and a Passerrating of 44.9). Which caused him to drop down to #4. Also some top performers could move up in the rankings despite losing the game…
Well here are the Top 10 NFL Quarterback Rankings after Week 14:
| Rank | Quarterback | Score | last week | comments |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Drew Brees | 6667 | (1 – 6633) | A good solid performance with good ball control: no fumbles, no interceptions and no sacks, 2 TD and a, well – not so great completion rate of 56.3% for 230 yards and 7.2 yards per attempt, enabled him to put some more space between himself and his competition. |
| 4 | Tony Romo | 5983 | (2 – 6392) | Well, as already mentioned above Romo’s performance vs the Steelers was bad, can’t say it was poor, no, really bad: 3 Interceptions and 1 lost fumble, only 52.8% of his passes were caught, and only one for a TD. His 19 completions went for just 210 yards and the low 5.8 yards per attempt were caused by the low completion rate combined with the low overall yardage. |
| 2 | Kurt Warner | 6267 | (3 – 6067) | Almost back to the “normal” way above average: 72.7% completion rate, 279 yards passing with 8.5 per attempt. Just 1 Sack and 1 interception but also only 1 TD pass and 2 rushes for minus 2, and finally a win again. were enough to hold Philip Rivers on distance and pass the falling Romo. |
| 5 | Chad Pennington | 5967 | (4 – 5992) | All in all actually a pretty good performance, just not good enough to let Romo fall behind him and to prevent Philip Rivers passing him. Only really not so good stats: 181 yards total passing despite completing almost 4 out 5 passes (79.3% completion rate). |
| 3 | Philip Rivers | 6125 | (5 – 5825) | Big Jump forward past Pennington and Romo: a terrible completion rate of 45.5% was overcome with great per completed pass (21.4) which still lead to 9.7 yards per attempt, 3 TD passes, no interception, no sack, no fumble but also 5 rushes for 19 yards. |
| 7 | Jay Cutler | 5817 | (6 – 5817) | Most constant performer, for weeks on #6 now dropped to #7 despite scoring exactly the same ranking points as in week 13. |
| 6 | Matt Ryan | 5867 | (7 – 5775) | Lost the game but passed Jay Cutler anyway. |
| 9 | Peyton Manning | 5683 | (8 – 5250) | Superb win, but still had to give in to last weeks co #8 Aaron Rodgers. |
| 8 | Aaron Rodgers | 5750 | (8 – 5250) | Lost! But still had slightly better performance (according to statistics) than last weeks co #8 Peyton Manning. |
| 10 | Matt Schaub |
5633 | (15 – 5058) | Passed himself up among the top 10. Let’s see if he can settle himself in the top 10 NFL Quarterbacks or if he’ll fall out again. |
