Tony Sparano new Dolphins Head Coach

Posted on January 16th, 2008 in NFL by coachroth

As already long speculated and expected Tony Sparano follows his former head coach Bill Parcells and other former Cowboys members to Miami, to become the Dolphins eighth head coach in team history.

Mike Zimmer, also a long time Dallas Cowboys coach (2000-2006) and one year Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator, has been hired by the Cincinnati Bengals to coordinate their defense. He follows Chuck Bresnahan, who could not move the Bengals out of the lower third of the defensive rankings in the NFL.

Also the Buffalo Bills rearranged their offensive coaching unit: New offensive coordinator is Turk Schonert, the offensive line will be coached by former assitant offensive line coach Sean Kugler (he follows retired Jim McNally), and also the quarterbacks do have a new coach: Alex Van Pelt the Bills former offensive quality control coach.

And there are speculations that head coaches of two of the NFL Divisional Playoffs loosing teams are considering retirement: Tony Dungy and Mike Holmgren. The speculations that Tony Dungy might quit coaching in favor of his family are almost a yearly routine by now, and also Mike Holmgren’s considering retirement is not so out of the blue: his 2-year contract extension signed shortly after the Super Bowl XL loss 23 month ago, expires and there’s no word out yet that the Seahawks offered him a new contract… So considering retirement is more than naturally.
