No 49ers Head Coach Change

News from the NFL Coaching Carousel:

The 49ers will retain HC Mike Nolan, at least for the 2008 season, Nolan who announce before the 2007 season that it would be a disappointment if the 49ers would not make the playoffs, missed his mark by far: going 5-11 the 49ers even stayed way below .500.

Just Offensive Coordinator Jim Hostler had to leave… The 49ers offensive output dropped from 26th in the NFL to the last position…

But the remark by 49ers owner John York, that he believes that Nolan can avoid a finish like in the 2007 season in the future also implies IMHO that, if the 49ers will miss the playoffs in 2008 again, Mike Nolan won’t be back for a 2009 season…

Also the 49ers announced the promotion of Vice President of Player Personnel Scot McCloughan to General Manage.
