Originally the NFL scheduled the Tennessee Titans at New York Jets Game on September 27th to be started at 4:15pm. But the Jets asked the NFL to reschedule the Game to start already at 1:00pm in respect of Yom Kippur, the Jewish day of atonements (and the most solemn and important Jewish holiday) will start at sundown that very day. Jets owner Woody Johnson thanked NFL Commissioner Goodell and Howard Katz for reacting so promptly to adjust the schedule to avoid further scheduling conflicts for the Jets fans of Jewish faith. – The New York City area is home of the by far largest jewish community outside Israel, which explains the sensitivity to the probably elsewhere ignored scheduling conflict.
