After the hiring of Tony Sparano by the Miami Dolphins the speculations around Jason Garrett were heating up: he’s been twice to Baltimore and Atlanta and got officially offered the Ravens’ head coaching job, while Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was also trying almost everything but firing Wade Phillips to keep Garrett on the Cowboys payroll, and was successful: The disappointed Ravens and Falcons now have to move on to find their new head coach and the sell-out of the Cowboys assistants has been stopped slowed down.

Elsewhere on and around the coaching carousel:
The Kansas City Chiefs signed Chan Gailey as their new offensive coordinator. Gailey who had already before this 3 NFL offensive coordinator jobs and 1 head coaching job, each lasted 2 years (OC: Denver Broncos 1989-1990, OC Pittsburgh Steelers 1996-1997, HC Dallas Cowboys 1998-1999, OC Miami Dolphins 2000-2001).

The Tennessee Titans are interested in Denver Broncos quarterbacks coach and assistant head coach Mike Heimerdinger and requested permission to inverview him for their vacant offensive coordinator position, reports the Denver Broncos Blogger Andrew Mason.

The Washington Redskins interviewed Jim Mora, currently defensive backs coach for the Seattle Seahawks, Wednesday. And Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Ron Meeks is scheduled to meet with Redskins owner Dan Snyder for today. Jim Caldwell, also an Indianapolis Colts assistant, is still hesitant to speak with the Redskins. He’s still waiting for Tony Dungy’s decision whether he’ll be back for another season or not. Because if not, Caldwell would be one of the top candidates to succeed Dungy….

Also the Chicago Bears reshuffled their coaching staff: Lloyd Lee, defensive assistant, is promoted to linebacker coach, replacing Hardy Nickerson, who resigned after only one (successful) year with the bears, to spend more time with his family. They also promoted Gill Byrd to assistant defensive backs coach/safeties and they hired Eric Washington as a defensive assistant/defensive line, Washington spent the last four years as the defensive line coach at Northwestern University.

And last not least:

The NFL will return to the UK with another regular season game in 2008. Another disappointment for the country with the largest NFL fan base in Europe: Germany. The german fans had high hopes that the next NFL regular season game would be in Germany. They have been bluntly offended by the NFL owners just 19 month ago when they announced to discontinue the NFL Europa with 5 of the 6 teams based in Germany…
