Two great Linebacker Agility Drills from Coach Greg Mitchell

Coach Greg Mitchell, Assistant Coach Outside Linebacker at Urbana University, OH, contributes two great Linebacker Agility Drills:

The T-Drill works various phases of the Linebacker play at the same time: sheding of blocks, dropping into coverage and making the tackle.
and the Weave & Sprint Drill mimics the LB dropping back into coverage and reading.

Thanks a lot to Coach Mitchell and the Urbana Blue Knights.

4 New Drills on FootballDrills.com

Last week I already put up the Running Back Jump Cut Drill, a drill to work on the ability of the Running Back to adjust his running path in the very last split of a second to hit the open spot and accelerate as fast as possible. I invented this drill so the Running Back can run confident full speed towards the designated POA even if it looks closed. So he won’t adjust to what looks like daylight too early giving the Linebackers time to react to his change of direction. With this drill the Running Back will be able to attack the designated POA and make his adjustments when the linebackers have already committed themselves into traffic and can’t see the Running Back adjusting…

New Running Back Drill Published

Posted on February 18th, 2008 in Website News by coachroth

Today I finally got to finish and publish this very special Running Back Agility / Footwork Drill:

I baptised it “ The Jump-Cut Drill“.

It works on the ability of the Running Back to attack the LOS at full speed towards the designated POA (point of attack) and just alter the actual POA (where he sees daylight) at the very last moment (when he’s already almost in traffic and thus hidden to most defenders).

Since this is - in my consideration - a very special drill I will give access to it only to registered users of FootballDrills.com - don’t worry registration to FootballDrills.com is still free.
