Thoughts about the current College Football Bowl System

I think that this season showed clearly how sick this whole voting system is:

  • the #1 ranked teams are an astounding low 9-5 over the season (with LSU being responsible for 2 of the losses)
  • the #2 ranked teams are even 3-7 over the last 10 weeks (including the BCS Championship Bowl).

And as I said before:

None of the teams (LSU and OSU) deserved it more than a lot of other teams to play the “Championship” Bowl!

Why?

BCS Controversy

Posted on December 6th, 2007 in College Football by admin

The rankings were wrong all year, see how often top ranked teams lost to unranked teams and the weekly shuffle that caused week for week…

So why should the rankings be right now? Another week of regular season games and again totally different teams would be on top…

I’m not saying that two other teams deserved it definitively more that OSU and LSU, but these two are just as wrong as any other team just being (s)elected to a championship…

Stangely the teams with the most money making potential made it to the “Championship” Bowl…

So why don’t go to the old system: Let the bowls be what they are: Money Making Games (BTW: The BCS should be called MMBS - Money Making Bowl Series) and then just simply pick a team as the champion

One more thing about Hawaii: Yes they got the weakest schedule of DIV I-A. But why? Because everybody tried to avoid them by all costs: Michigan State even paid $250.000 NOT to play Hawaii this year - this should be counted as another blowout win… and all the others also declined to play them…

For me Hawaii is the 2007 champion - maybe not the best team - but unbeaten!
And all those who claim that their schedule was too easy were afraid to play them

Just my 2ct
