Absolutely useless statistical facts after 12 Weeks

Add

Now, after Week 12 in the NFL is completed there are some absolutely useless, but nevertheless interesting statistical facts:

In three divisions even the last ranked team has a non losing record:

AFC East ( Bills and Dolphins, both 6-5), NFC East ( Eagles 5-5-1) and NFC South ( Saints 6-5) and two of the others the division leaders have the same record as the last in the above mentioned: AFC West ( Bronocs 6-5 even with a 2 game lead) and NFC North ( Bears and Vikings, both 6-5).

The team with fourth highest scoring offense is last in it’s division (Saints 317 pts). #1 Giants (329), #2 Jets (323) and #3 Arizona (318) are first in their division. WOW New York rules!!

Three teams are unbeaten at home: New York Giants (6-0), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-0), Carolina Panthers (6-0), but only one of them has a winning record on the road…

Only one team is unbeaten on the road: Tennessee Titans (5-0).

Three teams are still winless on the road Cincinnati Bengals (0-6), Kansas City Chiefs (0-5) and of course the Detroit Lions (0-6), who are still totally winless and therefore also (0-5) at home.

There have been 11 overtime games in 176 games played so far, with three teams already going into overtime twice: Jets (1-1), Bengals (0-1-1) and Tampa Bay (2-0)

The Chargers (4-7) would be 8-3 if the game would last only 59:35. They lost 4 games with their opponent scoring the winning points in the last 24 seconds of the game…

The top 4 Passers (Passerrating) are

  1. Philip Rivers (103.3, 4-7, #2 in division)
  2. Kurt Warner (102.4, 7-4, #1)
  3. Tony Romo (101.8, 7-4, #3)
  4. Drew Brees (99.9, 65, #4)

Strength of the divisions (combined scores outside division)

  1. NFC East 22-7-1
  2. NFC South 22-8
  3. AFC East 19-9
  4. AFC South 17-11
  5. AFC North 12-15-1
  6. NFC North 9-19
  7. AFC West 7-23
  8. NFC West 6-22
