Brian Billick released

Posted on December 31st, 2007 in NFL by coachroth

The last NFL gameday has just ended, then already the first HC got booted:

Baltimore Ravens Brian Billick got “relieved of coaching duties” after a disappointing season including a 9 game loosing streak. The very poor performing offense coordinated by Rick Neuheisel (who already left to take the new UCLA HC Job) was probably one of the reasons…

Read Brian Billick’s official statement here.

Update/Additional Info:

Billick just signed a four year extension last year, which leaves him still employed by the Ravens for the next three years, all assistants, having still one year on their contract, were also let go.

Now former Defensive Coordinator  Rex Ryan will be interviewed for the Head Coaching postion, but he’ll be just one of many others…

only Bill Cowher, the former Steelers HC, is, despite other rumors, at least currently not considered an option…

FootballDrills.com with new blogging software

Posted on December 29th, 2007 in Website News by coachroth

So, this is the first post with the new blogging software for FootballDrills.com

I switched from a poorly supported extension of the CMS (Content Management System) to the probably most public blogging softwar: WordPress.

I hope that this will speed up the posting process for me, and thus me posting more frequently… and also it should make it easier for you to comment, or subscribe with a feed reader (such as Google Reader)…

I even managed to migrate the posts from the previous almost 2 1/2 years - not that there were many, but anyway so I don’t have to keep the old stuff up…

BCS Controversy

Posted on December 6th, 2007 in College Football by admin

The rankings were wrong all year, see how often top ranked teams lost to unranked teams and the weekly shuffle that caused week for week…

So why should the rankings be right now? Another week of regular season games and again totally different teams would be on top…

I’m not saying that two other teams deserved it definitively more that OSU and LSU, but these two are just as wrong as any other team just being (s)elected to a championship…

Stangely the teams with the most money making potential made it to the “Championship” Bowl…

So why don’t go to the old system: Let the bowls be what they are: Money Making Games (BTW: The BCS should be called MMBS - Money Making Bowl Series) and then just simply pick a team as the champion

One more thing about Hawaii: Yes they got the weakest schedule of DIV I-A. But why? Because everybody tried to avoid them by all costs: Michigan State even paid $250.000 NOT to play Hawaii this year - this should be counted as another blowout win… and all the others also declined to play them…

For me Hawaii is the 2007 champion - maybe not the best team - but unbeaten!
And all those who claim that their schedule was too easy were afraid to play them

Just my 2ct
